Post :  Assistant Engineer Gr. I

Pay Scale : Level- 9 (Pre-revised PB-2 Rs. 9,300 – 34,800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,800)

Age : Not exceeding 30 years as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 35 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates and not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Classes Candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/ UT Government Servant upto five years as per instructions/order issued by Govt. of India from time to time. Essential Qualification (s) : A. Educational Essential Bachelor of Engineering or Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE) or Engineering Degree in Mining or Mechanical or Drilling from a recognized University.
Note 1 Qualification are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. Note 2 The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Schedules Tribes , if at any stage of selection the UPSC is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancy reserved for them.

Duty(ies) :   i) Full administrative and technical control of drill unit as a camp-in-charge, ii) Optimum judicious utilization of machineries and equipment to achieve the required productivity. Maintenance, repair and upkeep of machinery and vehicle, iii) Effective and day to day supervision of drilling operation, iv) Planning of drilling inventories, raising of indents and proper maintenance of stores and accounts, v) Provisioning of daily requirements like POL, bits, mud etc. for execution of uninterrupted shift operation, vi) Adequate and proper deployment of the personnel in the unit, vii) Initiate survey reports for un-serviceable stores and those list in the boreholes, viii) Report accidents, losses, thefts and natural calamity etc. to Headquarters and take necessary corrective measures to ensure safety and security of the staff and government property in the camp, ix) Preparation of drilling reports/returns and timely submission to Headquarter, x) Liaison with field Geologist for borehole allotment/ closure, logging etc. and local authorities for smooth drilling operation and xi) Maintenance of field vehicle, road tax payment, fitness certificate and initiate indent for vehicle spares etc.
Probation :  
Two Years

Head Quarter :  Kolkata with all India service liability

Other Details : General Central Service, Group ‘B’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The posts are permanent.

Any Other Conditions :  Every appointee on his/ her 1st appointment in Geological Survey of India shall have to successfully complete the induction or orientation training conducted by Geological Survey of India Training Institute

Post :  Junior Analyst Technical

Pay Scale :  Pre-revised Pay Scale Rs.9,300-34,800/- ( PB-2) plus Rs. 4,600/- (Grade Pay) As per 7th CPC- Level 7 in the Pay Matrix. (Total emoluments excluding T.A. and HRA at the time of initial appointment will be Rs.44900/- plus D.A. p.m. approximately)

Age :  Not exceeding 30 years for General category candidates as on normal closing date. Not exceeding 33 years for Other Backward Class candidates as on normal closing date in respect of the vacancies reserved for them. Relaxable for regularly appointed Central/U.T. Government Servant upto five years as per instructions/orders issued by Govt. of India from time to time. For age concession applicable to some other categories of applicants. Essential Qualification (s) :

A. EDUCATIONAL-
Masters Degree in Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Degree in Engineering or Technology of a recognized University or equivalent.
(Since the Department does not have the list of equivalent subjects (qualifications), same may be treated as NIL).
Note-I The qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
B. EXPERIENCE-
Two years experience of scrutiny and analysis of proposals or programmes related to development of Science and Technology and monitoring their implementation from Central or State Government organisations and Research and Development organisations in Public and Private Sectors.

Duty(ies) :  To render assistance in the implementation of programmes and to make preliminary analysis and scrutiny of proposals programmes / projects etc.

Probation : Two years

Head Quarter : Headquarters is New Delhi but liable to serve anywhere in India.

Other Details : General Central Service, Group ‘B’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
